I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy at this time. Many of our day-to-day lives are completely different now than they were a few weeks ago, and that can be hard – please know that we have you all in our thoughts and hope you are taking care of yourselves. I want to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing commitment to PoP and global education.

Our in-country teams have been truly incredible over the past weeks. Per usual they have jumped into action with patience, positivity and with the best interest of our students, teachers, and communities driving their work.

As PoP is working closely with our colleagues in-country, as well as our key stakeholders to create contingency plans to offer support to schools in any way that we can, we have decided to postpone the March meeting in order to come together in April with a clearer path forward.  Alexis Hamill, Alexis Teixeira and I look forward to coming to the April meeting with creative ideas of how to further our work in this current climate.

I would be remiss not to highlight our WASH programming right now. 443 million school days are lost each year because of water-and-sanitation-related diseases (UNDP). That’s why we focus on providing schools access to clean water, private bathrooms, and training on mindful hygiene practices such as hand-washing and teeth-brushing. We also provide support in providing menstruation education to students of all genders. Click here for more info on our WASH programs and please feel free to share with friends and colleagues.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for your tremendous support, even in uncertain times. I look forward to sharing more with you all about our team’s response in the coming weeks.
